| Heli Niugini Limited
is a private company principally operating in Papua New Guinea as well
as Australia and the South Pacific region. The company is wholly owned
by Pacific Aviation Partners Limited, a Papua New Guinea registered company.
The parent company, Heli Niugini's original holding company Heli Bougainville Pty Ltd., commenced operations in the North Solomons Province in 1984 with the helicopter support contract for Bougainville Copper initially operating a Bell 206B111. The company expanded to meet the needs of Bougainville Copper and the New Guinea Islands region by adding a second Bell 206 and a Sikorsky S62 to its fleet. Heli Niugini was formed in July 1987 to reflect the company’s expansion to include mainland operations. Hangar and office facilities were purchased in Madang in November 1989. Madang was chosen for the company’s head office and maintenance base because of its central location. In addition to its facilities at Madang the company has permanent bases in Wewak, East Sepik Province, Moro, Southern Highlands Province and Mt Hagen, Western Highlands Province. Through joint venture and lease arrangements with international operators Heli Niugini has successfully provided heavy helicopter support capability since 1991. In particular the 3 tonne lift Bell 214B-1 has been on contract in support of drilling operations with Pecten, LL&E, Command Petroleum, Barracuda and Anderman Smith. As part of our international operations Heli Niugini have provided heavy helicopter support on a Fire-Fighting Contract with the NSW Government for the 94 / 95 fire season using the Bell 214B-1. We are continuing to provide heavy helicopter support in PNG and operate Kamov KA-32C/T & KA-32A helicopters for Chevron's drilling and seismic program in the Southern Highlands Province and have provided support for the Tolukuma Gold Mine using a Kamov. We are able to provide additional Ka-32, Mi-8, Mi-17, Mi-10, and Mi-26 helicopters as required giving a range of lifting capabilities from 4 -20 tonnes. In addition to our civil operation, Heli Niugini held the contract for crewing and maintenance of the PNG Defence Force Bell 205 (Iroquois) helicopters from their arrival in 1989 through to 1994. We are currently contracted to Highlands Pacific on their Ramu Nickel Cobalt project ex Madang and Frieda River Project, Chevron, Oil Search, Esso Highlands & Santos for their 2002/2003 PNG Drilling program.
